The original good time.

From a master jazz riff to the perfect boutique find, this is full flavor with a head of foam.

Jack London Square is the historical pulse point of the East Bay waterfront. Where once tall ships anchored and maritime men outfitted themselves for the gold rush, pleasure yachts now fill marina slips and those in the know gather for bayside dining and the West Coast’s best jazz.

The legendary Yoshi’s, now in its thirtieth year, has hosted jazz greats from Dizzy Gillespie to Diana Krall in one of the region’s most visited and respected venues. Food gets rave reviews on the square too, whether it’s modern Japanese cuisine, Sunday brunch at the water’s edge or oysters and champagne at sunset.

One-of-a-kind boutiques and open-air markets make shopping Jack London Square a feast of color and texture. Local artists and craftspeople display everything from the functional to the funky at the weekend Artisan Marketplace, while area farmers sell fresh produce at the Sunday Farmer’s Market. Browse for books, custom printed linens, kayaking supplies or whatever grabs your fancy in the countless stores surrounding the square.

As if that weren’t enough, major new developments are in the works for this lively waterfront neighborhood. California Harvest Hall, an 185,000 square foot marketplace rivaling Seattle's Pike Place Market, is the centerpiece of a proposed $300 million expansion of Jack London Square slated to include a four-star hotel, a seven-theater movie house and new office and parking space as well.
